Do you feel as though you have a negative body image? If so then now is the time for you to try and do something about that. If you don’t take steps to help yourself now then you may find that you end up feeling worse about yourself and that you just can’t get out of the rut you are currently in. If you want to do something about this then the only thing you have to do is take a look below.

Identify Negative Thoughts

The first step when it comes to overcoming your negative body image and thoughts would be for you to become more aware of the feelings you have about your appearance. Your thoughts are often automated and a lot of the time they will pass through your mind without being challenged. If you can, pay attention to them and take note of them when you take a look in the mirror. Do this when you make a mistake and even when you have awkward interactions too. Are the thoughts you are experiencing true? When you start to take a step back and when you evaluate everything you will soon be able to make changes that go on to benefit you. This technique is often the process that is used when you undergo cognitive behavioral therapy. If you want to make yourself feel better, why not look into improving your wardrobe by getting some corset tops?

Recognise Motivation

If you are constantly critiquing yourself and your appearance then you need to do something about this. The first thing you need to do is think about why you are giving yourself a hard time. Do you really need to be thinner? Do you feel as though it is possible for you to control your appearance or do you just want to change certain parts of yourself? Are you echoing the criticism that you might have heard from other people? Either way, if you can keep things like this in mind then you will soon find that you can pinpoint your thought process and you can also recognise what you are hearing. By doing this, you may find that you can heal your emotional needs which will work in your favor quite a lot. If possible, you also need to give some thought to the way you feel and why, so you can begin the healing process.

Appreciate your Body

One of the best things you can do to improve your body image would be to start seeing your body in a more positive light. You need to do this in a way that overcomes your negative or even neutral one. Even if you feel limited at times, you have to focus on all of the positive things your body is capable of doing. You also need to cultivate gratitude for your body’s abilities. If you can do this then you will soon find that you can function more optimally.

Focus on the Positives

You have to remember that it takes a lot of effort to focus on the positive aspects of your body. Take steps to put a main focus on mindfulness and thankfulness. It may be that you write down the things that you like about your body in a journal. You can also repeat some affirmations every day as a way to support your mindset. Choose foods or activities that nourish your body and give it strength. Meditate on why you feel grateful for your body and do exercises so you can build a better image overall. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is much easier for you to get the result you want.

Avoid Comparisons

Body dissatisfaction often comes when you make comparisons to celebrities or even your peers. If you want to help yourself then you need to be aware of all the times that you begin to compare yourself to others. Remind yourself that your body is unique and that at the end of the day, no look is ideal. If you are being bombarded by negativity from your social media feed then now could be the time for you to do something about that. Adjust your platform and make sure that you are filling your feed with body shapes that are healthy so you can limit scrolling through Facebook and then feeling bad about yourself for it.

Challenge What You See

Keep in mind that images that you see in the media are not realistic, nor are they truthful. There are so many photo editing techniques out there that are used to enhance overall appearances. If you can, take the time to challenge what you see on the internet and on social media. You also need to challenge what you see on TV shows and movies. Not only do celebrities use photo editing software, but you will also notice that apps and software use it too. People are always changing their appearance and if you assume that everyone looks the way that they do on social media then this can be damaging, to say the least.

Identify Non-Physical Traits

Another thing you can do is take the time to identify any non-physical thoughts that you might have. Make sure that you put the focus on your intelligence as well as on your kindness and creativity. Take the time to remind yourself that you are your body and that you should be proud of your mind and your spirit too. If you can take the time to focus on your character and personality then this will help you who you are as a person and it will have no bearing on who you are on the outside.

Surround yourself with Positivity

If you can, you should also take the time to evaluate your current friendships. Do your friends talk about their bodies in a way that is positive? Or are they also very critical? It is imperative that you realize that your friends will have an impact on the way you see yourself. Try to surround yourself with people who speak the same language as you and make sure that you seek out communities too. It is also important for you to exercise caution so you can take steps to better support your mental health going forward.
Be Kind

Get to really know yourself. Think about all of the things that make you happy and what you happen to value the most. You might find this helpful if you can take the time to write it down in a journal. If you can, you also need to challenge yourself. You might automatically put yourself down and you just don’t need to do this, so take some time and get comfortable with all of the things that you can do to help yourself. If you can do this then you will soon find that it becomes easier for you to feel better about yourself and this is so important.

Say No

If you can, you have to learn to say no. You need to be assertive. This can be difficult if it is something that you just aren’t used to. With that being said, if you try and take on too many things at once then this can be draining. It is a good idea for you to pause and for you to think about what it is you are agreeing to before you agree. If you can do this then you will soon find that your mental health benefits as a result.

Recognise the Positives

Celebrate your success where possible. It doesn’t matter how small your success may be, because you have to take time for yourself. It may be that you try to go outside for a walk or that you do something that makes you feel good. Learn to accept compliments too. You could save them by writing them down for when you aren’t feeling too great if you want. If you can do this then you will soon find that you feel better about yourself and that you can live your life with much more positivity.

Build a Good Support Network

If possible, you have to learn to build a good support network. Talk with someone who you trust. At the end of the day, having someone who you can trust and who you can listen to is the best way for you to change your mindset. You also need to focus on positive relationships if you can. It may feel difficult for you to control who you spend time with, but if you can, you need to spend time with people who make you feel good. If you can do this as a general rule then you will soon notice that your mental health increases and that you feel way better about yourself overall. If you can do this then you may notice a huge increase in your confidence too which is so important when you are constantly wrestling with yourself and trying to make a change.
