3 Must-Know Beauty Tips for Teenage Girls

It’s estimated that 85% of teens will get acne. This is due to the hormonal changes that come with puberty.

More specifically, it’s due to a boost in testosterone, which causes the glands to produce more sebum. Ultimately, it’s these oils, mixed with dead skin cells, that lead to pimples.

Don’t worry, though—there are things that you can do to keep your skin looking fresh.

Interested? Want to know what they are? If so, you’re at the right place. We’ll be sharing some beauty tips for teenagers below.

Keep reading to learn more!

1. Wear Sunscreen Whenever You Go Out

Always wear sunscreen. It doesn’t matter if it isn’t sunny, the UV rays can still come down and damage your skin.

For the best results, use a sunscreen with an SPF rating of at least 30. Apply half a teaspoon (a nickel-sized dollop) to your face and neck and gently rub it in. And remember, it takes time for the sunscreen to fully bind to your skin, so make sure to apply it half an hour before venturing outside.

For those who are staying outdoors, make sure to reapply it every two hours, especially after sweating.

2. Wash Your Face Twice a Day

Wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser. Gently massage your skin with circular motions.

Don’t scrub; that can damage the outermost layer of the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water afterward and pat dry with a clean towel.

After cleansing, apply a moisturizer to your face—that’ll help keep the skin hydrated.

And for those who wear makeup, remember to remove it before going to bed. Keeping it on will prevent the skin from renewing itself while you’re asleep. Not to mention that it can clog your pores, which can lead to pimples.

3. Don't Touch Your Face

Avoid touching your face; the oil and debris on your fingers and hands can clog your pores, and that can lead to acne. If you must touch your face, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water first.

And never pop a pimple—that can spread the bacteria and pus deeper into the skin, which can result in more swelling. Not only that, but it can lead to infection or scarring. It’ll also take longer for the lesion to heal.

Consider using a spot treatment such as benzoyl peroxide instead (Caire Beauty has more tips on how to take care of your skin).

Important Beauty Tips to Know

Follow these beauty tips and you’ll have smoother healthier-looking skin. Remember, preventing skin damage is always easier than reversing it. Given that, it's important to do what you can to protect it!
