Met Gala 2015 Get the Look: Imogen Poots

Met Gala 2015 Get the Look: Imogen Poots by Melanie Ingleessis for MAKE UP FOR EVER
By Carla Snuggs

WHO: Imogen Poots

MAKEUP BY: Melanie Inglessis, for MAKE UP FOR EVER

INSPIRATION: “Imogen’s gorgeous lace dress had a Victorian feel, so I wanted to capture this look for her makeup while giving homage to the Met Gala’s theme of Chinese fashion.”

TIPS/TECHNIQUE

“For Imogen’s beauty look, I wanted to add a modern, youthful twist. To do this I decided to keep her skin matte. I started by using MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. The primer created a smooth base for the rest of her face makeup.

I then continued with the MAKE UP FOR EVER Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation #30 and then the HD Concealer #320 underneath her eyes. To softenthe look of Imogen’s skin, I applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Super Matte Loose Power in #12 Translucent.

I next applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow in #20 which gave her brows staying power and an extra boost of shading. I wanted to craft a vibrant eye look, so for the base, I used MAKEUP FOR EVER Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Color #8 in Red and #9 Coral, on the top, bottom and underneath the eye.

Next, I pressed on the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Shadow #I-752 Electric Coral to create a lively, orange color. I blended Artist Shadow #M-846 Morello Cherry, a darker burgundy color, on the outer corner of Imogen’s eyes to give the look more depth.

To soften these colors, I dusted MAKE UP FOR EVER Diamond Powder #11 Champagne all over her the lid. For dramatic lashes, I curled them and then applied a dark mascara, such as MAKE UP FOR EVER

Smoky Extravagant. I knew I wanted to go with a red lip, but didn’t want her look to be overwhelming, so it was important to use no blush, bronzer or, lip liner. To finish, I used my finger to gently apply MAKE UP FOR EVER Flash Color #24 Red and #25 Fuchsia on her lips. The choice to not use lip liner was imperative to create a dramatic, yet soft red lip.”
