In this edition of our Founder’s Spotlight Series, we’re thrilled to introduce Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino — a former branding Creative Director turned pet wellness advocate. As the founder of Marcy’s Pet Kitchen®, Marcy is on a mission to deliver clean, functional, and allergy-friendly treats to pets everywhere. Inspired by her own dog’s health struggles and driven by integrity, transparency, and deep love for animals, Marcy is redefining what it means to Reward Naturally®.

Q&A With Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino

Q1: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to start Marcy’s Pet Kitchen?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: I’m Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino, the founder of the wholesome and purpose-driven Marcy’s Pet Kitchen®. In my previous life I was a Creative Director in branding with a massive soft spot for all things animals!

My journey began with a mix of frustration and love—frustration with misleading pet food labels, and deep love for my dog and our past pups, who struggled with sensitivities, gut issues, and diabetes.

I’ve always believed our pets deserve the same quality, care, and transparency we expect in our own food. That’s why I created something better: nutrient-dense, limited-ingredient treats that are gut-friendly, functional, fun—and free from sugar spikes, digestive issues, and allergy triggers. Marcy’s Pet Kitchen® was born in my own kitchen, but it’s grown into a mission to educate, empower, and bring joy to pets and their people through healthy, honest nutrition.

Q2: What makes Marcy’s Pet Kitchen different from other pet food brands out there?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Our USA-sourced and made treats are wholesome, low-calorie, and nutrient-dense—carefully crafted to be allergy-friendly, gentle on sensitive tummies, and ideal for dogs with restricted or diabetic diets. At Marcy’s Pet Kitchen®, we’re not just making treats—we’re making a difference.

What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to functional ingredients, complete transparency, and purpose-driven care. Every low-glycemic recipe is made without added salt and designed with your dog’s health in mind—featuring clean, plant-powered ingredients you can recognize. No fillers, no high sugars, and no confusing marketing buzzwords or ingredients you cannot pronounce. At Marcy’s Pet Kitchen®, we believe you should always Reward Naturally®.

Our vegan line is intentionally formulated to support real wellness—not just taste. And we go beyond the bag by giving product donations to rescue organizations, sharing honest pet wellness education through our blog, and staying grounded in the values that matter most.

Q3: What challenges did you face when launching your business, and how did you overcome them?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Like most startups, we faced the usual hurdles—limited resources, steep learning curves, and navigating an industry full of vague claims. One of our biggest challenges was finding a truly all-natural, small-batch manufacturer in the U.S. After a few years of searching, we found an amazing team that now produces our high-quality, wholesome, and nutrient-dense treats with rigorous protocols.

I had to dig deep: researching pet nutrition, connecting with veterinary experts, and building relationships with suppliers who shared my standards. It wasn’t easy—there were setbacks, delays, and plenty of pivots. But I stayed grounded in my mission: to make treats I would trust for my own dog. Treats that are allergen-free, dandelion-infused, and designed to support gentle digestion.

What got me through? Resilience, community, and a strong belief that pet parents—and their companions—deserve better.

Q4: How do you ensure the quality and safety of the ingredients used in your products?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Quality starts at the source. We USA-source real, wholesome ingredients—never fillers, by-products, or anything artificial. Our suppliers must meet high standards for sustainability, transparency, and traceability. We work with U.S.-based manufacturing partners who follow strict safety protocols, including GMP certification and regular third-party testing. Our recipes are also created in consultation with holistic pet nutritionists to ensure each one is both nourishing and functional.

What we leave out is just as important as what we put in. Every treat is limited-ingredient, low-glycemic, low-fat, and gut-friendly—supporting everything from digestion to energy to coat health.

For us, it's not just about making treats—it’s about earning your trust with every bite.

Q5: Who is your ideal customer or pet, and what kind of impact do you hope your products have on their lives?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Our ideal customer is a conscious, ingredient-savvy pet parent—someone who reads labels, asks questions, and seeks out nutrient-dense, functional options for their dog’s wellness.

Whether their pup has allergies, a sensitive gut, picky eating habits, sugar spikes, or is on a restricted diet, they trust Marcy’s Pet Kitchen® for clean, wholesome treats that don’t compromise on flavor or function.

We especially love working with pet parents of rescues, senior dogs, and those managing health conditions like digestive and sensitivity issues, allergies, or diabetes. Our goal is to bring comfort, joy, and wellness to every tail-wagging customer. We’re here to do more than just fill treat jars—we’re on a mission to help pets live longer, healthier, and happier lives through better nutrition and thoughtful care. Every part of our messaging is rooted in our honest commitment to creating truly beneficial, trustworthy products for the dogs we love.

Q6: Can you share a memorable success story or customer feedback that really stuck with you?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Absolutely! One of the most heartwarming messages we received was from several customers whose dogs had struggled with digestive issues for years—often vomiting after eating other treats. But after switching to Marcy’s Pet Kitchen®, everything changed. No more tummy troubles—just wagging tails, and grateful pet parents. Stories like these are exactly why we do what we do! It’s stories like that—knowing our treats are making a real difference—that keep us going. It means everything to hear that we’ve helped a pup feel better, and a pet parent feel relieved.

Q7: How do you see Marcy’s Pet Kitchen evolving in the next 3 to 5 years

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: We’re working on expanding our line to include other food-related dog products that stay true to our mission: wholesome, functional, nutrient-dense solutions that are just as clean and honest as our original treats.

We also plan to grow our educational efforts—helping more pet parents navigate labels, understand their dog’s needs, and feel empowered through nutrition. Via our Marcy’s Pet Kitchen® Blog and other platforms.

Q8: What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs, especially those in the pet or food industry, looking to start their own business?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: Start with purpose, not just a product. Trust is everything in the pet space. You need to stand for something—and stand behind every bite, every claim, every ingredient. Don’t wait for perfect. Launch small, listen to feedback, and iterate. Tell your story. People connect to brands that are transparent, passionate, and personal.

Do your research, know your competition, and lean into what makes you unique. And above all, build your brand on integrity, authenticity, and value. That knowledge will also be mirrored in your branding efforts.

Q9: Are there any upcoming products, projects, or initiatives that you’re excited about and can share with us?

Marcy Lambert-Pellegrino: We have several exciting things in the works—but everything must align with our mission. We never say yes to hype or trends. Only to purposeful, functional, and healthy innovation that pet parents can feel good about. But there are many collabs in the works as well as yummy product innovations that are wonderful for dogs with allergies, sensitive tummies, digestive issues, and diabetic challenges.
