Transition to a fall skincare routine that moisturizes and heals damage from the summer sun

Now that fall is well under way, we hope you’ve transitioned into your fall skincare and  routines. Posh Beauty Blog had a chat with Dr. Kalpana DePasquale, founder of St. Augustine Ear, Nose & Throat and Avanti Medical Spa. Fall Skincare Tips

1. Start the season right with an exfoliation treatment to polish away dead summer skin. Home
care products are better absorbed and can work as intended when applied to a smooth canvas. 

2. Microdermabrasion is a perfect option to eliminate dead skin scale, achieve a smoother texture and replenish a bright complexion.

3. Put away your summer facial lotions and switch to a more emollient moisturizer. The outermost layer of skin is our protective barrier against external elements. When compromised, the signs of aging accelerate. During fall and winter, lower temperatures and a drop in moisture in the air can leave skin looking and feeling parched. Fine lines are accentuated and skin can appear to sag and look older than it should. 

4. Continue on your sun care regimen with a daily application of an SPF 30 or higher. UV rays are just as harmful in winter and can cause damage year round. This is one step you can’t afford to skip. 

5. Fall is a great time to consider more aggressive anti-aging procedures to repair the damage made during the summer months. If the colder temps brings you indoors, your skin can heal more appropriately while you have less sun exposure and participate less in physical activities or sports that could introduce bacteria.
