Ramy Gafni, Celebrity MUA and brow expert, explains how brows can prematurely age you and how to tweak them in 5 minutes

Just like the hair on our heads, as we age our brows can turn grey, become more coarse and thin, and as a result, can age the face. To learn how to fix this issue, Posh Beauty Blog tapped Celebrity Makeup Artist and Brow Expert, Ramy Gafni who provided 5 ways to tweak your eyebrows to help you look instantly look younger.

Tip 1: If you've lost the tail (the back part of your brows, from the arch to the outer end) which can be the result of a hormonal imbalance or even just a bad wax, the easiest remedy is to fill in brows with a wax based product, like a pomade or a brow pen or pencil. You want the product to be wax-based because the formula will adhere to your skin where you have no hairs.

The key is to fill the ENTIRE eyebrow, not just the missing part. You want the eyebrow to look uniform. For this particular issue, choose a shade that matches your hair color exactly. Fill the entire brow, creating a line where the hair is missing. Then set the entire eyebrow with translucent powder. The powder will help make the entire brow look more uniform in color and will add texture so that the part of the brow that's missing hair will look more like a real eyebrow.

Tip 2: Growing the brows back is the most difficult part, but the best thing to do is just leave them be - no tweezing, waxing or threading.  (It can take around 3 months to get brows back to square one.)  If you're missing hair in the front part of your brows, meaning your eyebrows are too far apart, people always want the hairs to begin growing at the brow and then extend outwards.

What actually happens is that you'll get a "stray" hair a mile away from your eyebrow, so the inclination is to remove it. You must NOT remove it because if that part of an eyebrow is going to grow back, it starts far from the brow, then another hair comes in a little closer to the brow, then another. In effect, the front part of the brow grows back in reverse and then fills in over time. So it's imperative to not remove those strays, as those strays will eventually become your eyebrows. The front part of the brow also takes a few more months to become as dense as the rest of the eyebrow. This can be remedied by filling in the brows with makeup to make the entire brow look more solid and uniform as the brows are growing in. Try RAMY Miracle Brow Compacts, $28.

Tip 3: If you have excessively long, wiry hairs, which can occur whether your brows are sparse or dense, the best solution is to trim the excess length. If trimming your brows yourself, always take a conservative approach, as though you are trimming split ends. You can always trim off more, but once you trim too much, you might create a gap and will have to wait for it to grow back. Once your brows are trimmed, you can use a Brow Gel to hold the hairs in place as they grow back. A Clear gel will simply hold stray hairs in place. Tip 4: If you dye your brow hairs to either match your hair color or cover white hairs, keep in mind that a lighter brow (lighter in color) is a more lifted brow. An eyebrow that is too dark in color will look visually heavy whereas a lighter brow will appear more lifted.

Tip 5: If your brow curve downwards, giving your eyes a droopy look, you can visually lift your brows with a good brow shaping. Brush your brows up and down to assess excess length and trim accordingly. Then tweeze away the obvious stray hairs. Then tweeze away one row of hair from under the front of your brows. Once that's done, remove two rows of hair from directly under your arches (The peak of your brows where the brow bone protrudes most). This will lift the brows and give you a less apologetic expression.  Add white matte shadow or a pearlescent highlighter directly along underside of brows to give a further visual lift.
