Now that fall is well under way, we hope you’ve found the perfect fragrance for the season. If you’re looking for a fresh, new scent this fall, you’re in luck: Posh Beauty Blog is going share some wonderful favorite fall scents that you’ll want to try. But first, we’re going to let you in on some tips to that will help your fragrance last longer.

How to Properly Apply Your Favorite Fragrance

How to properly spray a fragrance depends on how strong it is, explains Jason Nik, Life Coach, Author of The Warrior's Odyssey and fragrance connoisseur. “The three most common strengths of fragrances are EdC (Eau de Cologne), EdT (Eau de Toilette) and EdP (Eau de Parfum). EdC is the weakest and EdP the strongest.”  If you're wearing an EdP, one spray on the neck is more than enough. Less than that, anything from 1 to 2 sprays will do. When you spray a scent on you, spray from at least 6 inches away from you. Spraying a scent through the air and walking through it is just a waste of a perfectly good fragrance and it won't last long, says Nik.

The common mistake people make is spraying the fragrance again when they no longer smell it, says Nik. “People wearing a fragrance can experience nose fatigue after about 15 minutes of wear, but other people will still smell it. Spraying again will make people want to get away from you.”

If you’ve ever wondered why some perfumes last longer than others, here’s why:  “Perfumes that are alcohol based are subject to evaporation - therefore the shorter active life for the wearer. An oil based fragrance absorbs into the skin and lasts markedly longer, even into the next day!” explains our friends at Inkling Scents. Fragrance will also last longer when applied to the pulse points, typically wrists and necks.
