7 Healthy Food Packs You Can Bring During Summer Vacations

Summer and vacations always go hand in hand. Whether hitting the road, going to the beach, or just escaping from the hustles and bustles of city life, you definitely deserve this hard-earned break. And since it's a vacation, it goes without saying you'll be indulging yourself with everything you want to enjoy.

However, it doesn't mean you have to lay low from your diet and break free from eating healthy. There are several food packs and healthy eating tips you can bring with you as you travel.

A Healthy Indulgence

It can get challenging to stick to your balanced diet when traveling with family or friends. You can expect the trip to involve multiple stops, and fast-food options will always be in every corner. As tempting as they may be, you need to focus on your goal and try your best not to stray away from what you know is suitable for your health and fitness.

The key is to be ready with healthy food packs so you can achieve the beach-body results you desire. With these healthy yet yummy treats, snacking is still possible while on the road. You don't need to go hungry, and you also get to stick to your regimen. Of course, you should also combine this with staying hydrated by drinking lots of fluids. Additionally, you may consider the following food packs and items you can bring during your summer vacations:

  1. Homemade Fruit Salad

Fresh fruits while on a road trip? Yes, please. Fruit bowls are so easy to make. You won't even need any particular skill to prepare them. Tropical or seasonal fruits would be delightful to keep you full and in a better mood for summer. If you plan on bringing a cooler for the trip, the better. You can stock strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupes, and grapes.

2. A Bag Of Crunchy Fix

When talking about snacks, it's impossible not to think of nuts to nibble on. You won't even need to transfer them to a container as their original packaging (most likely resealable bags) will do. To make sure they're healthier, go for unsalted versions of cashews, almonds, and pistachios. Grab them as you go without worrying about spills or stains on the car seat.

3. Banana Chips

Another easy-to-bring snack option would be banana chips, which you can easily buy from supermarkets and grocery stores. You can also choose to make your own banana chips by simply frying thinly sliced raw bananas. For added flavor, you can sprinkle some pepper, salt, or red chili on top of them. Homemade banana chips should be placed in an airtight container to keep them crispy and delicious for a few days.

4. Sandwiches

Who doesn’t love a good sandwich, especially when on a trip? If you don't feel like driving thru fast-food chains just to get a quick breakfast fix, you can prepare sandwiches at home before leaving. Sandwiches are also great for air travel as you can conveniently pack them using reusable bags or airtight containers. Some healthy sandwich options include peanut butter and jelly on rye; grilled chicken with cucumber, pepper, and sliced tomatoes; or whipped cream cheese and cucumber on whole wheat bread.

5. Whole Wheat Pancakes

If you don't mind getting up earlier than the others to prepare breakfast even while on vacation, you can shop for whole wheat pancake mixes before your scheduled trip. They're easy to make and would only need eggs, water, and butter. You can add fresh fruits on the side, like blueberries or strawberries, for a fresh twist.

6. Healthy Veggie Wraps

Veggie wraps are perfect if you're short on time yet you want something fresh and healthy. All you need are your favorite veggies, hummus, and whole wheat tortilla. As for the dressing, you can also make one on your own if you have a go-to recipe for it. Just make sure to place the dressing in an airtight jar or container.

7. Baked Goodies

Do you love to bake? Go ahead and bake a fresh batch of homemade goodies before you leave for the trip. You can make muffins, which are very filling and can keep hunger at bay during the trip. For your sweet-toothed companions, brownies should do wonders as long as they're dairy-free, gluten-free, and sugar-free and made from healthy ingredients, such as dark chocolate and cocoa powder.

Is Summer Here Yet?

The summer season is always something to look forward to. Think clear skies, brighter days, and endless beach vacations. As you enjoy your time off with family and friends, don't forget to keep your health in check by making sure you remain committed to your healthy diet. It's okay to indulge yourself as long you know your limits. So go ahead and soak in all the goodness the sun has to offer. But don't forget to apply sunblock and wear a hat.
