Kendall-Jackson

Here are my latest finds from Kendall-Jackson:

  • Pinot Noir: Kendall-Jackson’s 2017 Grand Reserve Anderson Valley Pinot Noir ($26) is fruit-forward with hints of wild strawberry, black cherry and sweet vanilla, making the light bodied red a great sipper alongside earthy mushrooms, pickled beets or fresh figs.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon: Kendall-Jackson’s elegant 2016 Grand Reserve Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon ($32) features dark full berry tones with hints of mocha and nutmeg which pairs beautifully with fall cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and seasonal sweet-tart fruits like California persimmons.

Virtual Wine Tastings with Brianne Cohen

Brianne Cohen and I'm a WSET Diploma (Level 4) certified sommelier.  During these times she's turned her focus to socially distanced events, both privately hosted online and in-person events as well as a variety of public wine education classes. Her philosophy and goal is pretty straight forward. Brianne tries to make wine accessible, and help those who are interested in learning more about small boutique wine producers. She also hosts private bookings both for individuals (perfect for a birthday/anniversary celebration or for a bridal shower) and for corporate clients. Learn more Briannecohen.com

Wine from the Country of Georgia

Georgia, tiny country located in the Caucasus (bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the Black Sea) is archaeologically proven to the birthplace of viticulture, with 8,000 continuous vintages so far. Its wines are made in huge, egg-shaped, clay vessels – called qvevri – which are buried in the earth up to their necks; this method of winemaking is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural World Heritage list. In Georgia, wines have always been made naturally and the whites have always been skin contact (amber), so without doing anything Georgia is right on trend. Learn more: Winesgeorgia.com

Beau Joie Brut Champagne

Beau Joie Brut is a zero dosage (no added sugar) Champagne, aged for 6 years on lees which is divine and wonderful with food, particularly something like Pata Negra or a hard cheese with a touch of salty, tanginess like an aged Parmesan or Comté. The bottle is stunning - the 100% recycled copper casing of the bottle is a smart bit of functional design. The copper casing:

  • helps keep the Champagne cooler for longer

  • reduces the amount of energy needed to bring the bottle to serving temperature

  • helps it stay cool during consumption

  • assists with grip when opening and serving

  • provides a sterile, antibacterial surface
