Faux Hawk Braid Hair Tutorial

Faux Hawk Braid Hair Tutorial by Celebrity Hairstylist Mark Hill
By Carla Snuggs

Looking for a fun updo to rock this summer? British celeb hairstylist Mark Hill* suggests this rockin’ faux hawk braid!  Why not try this style when going out for summer cocktails with the girls, or even to a summer festival? Teamed with jeans, heels and a blazer, the faux hawk braid will give you the boyfriend look and makes a great change from a scraped back pony.  Here are the steps to get the look, courtesy of Mark Hill!

Step 1: Back comb the front section of your hair as if you’re doing a quiff.

Step 2: Smooth over the top and secure with some Fabulous Finish Hairspray

Step 3: Take your three braiding sections, like a Dutch braid, you take the hair outer sections under the middle, NOT OVER.  The braid should stand out on top of the hair.

Step 4: Continue down the head (you can always just do half the head and leave the rest of your hair down and wavy!

Step 5: From top to bottom, pull out the loops making them into circular shapes and spray to secure.  How much you want to tease is up to you. Try a few and see how messy you dare to go!

Step 6: Your finished braid should look like this.  You can create this style by adding some temporary hair extensions for length and thickness as for this braid, the more hair the better!
