Hair Removal Tips
By Carla Snuggs
From grooming regimes to hair removal tactics, there are infinite amounts of inaccurate information out there that must be debunked. To expose the most popular shaving myths, Posh Beauty Blog has sourced Phil Masiello, president of 800razors.com, the burn free razor company!
1) MYTH: Men's and women's razors are interchangeable.
FACT: Good women's razors are made differently than men's razors. A men’s razor is made for shaving over sharp corners of the jaw line and cutting dense hair that grows on a man’s face and chest. A women’s razor features a different handle and a design to cover a larger surface area. They are made for two totally different surfaces!
2) MYTH: Higher price means higher quality.
FACT: There are a few giant razor companies that have monopolized the market and hiked up prices outrageously over the years. Luckily, customers do not have to fall victim to these prices any longer, with online razor companies making practically the same product and selling it for a fraction of the price.
3) MYTH: Shaving makes hair grow back thicker/darker.
FACT: As new hair grows out, the sun can actually bleach it, causing it to lighten so once it grows it may appear darker. After shaving, the hair will grow out with a blunt tip, which may make it feel coarse. Yet shaving does not create more hair growth or darker strands.
4) MYTH: More blades means a better shave.
FACT: The multi-blade system relies on comfort and personal preference. The first blade catches the hair and pulls it up above the skin while each subsequent razor blade cuts any leftover hair follicle. Choose the right amount of blades for your hair thickness and preference.
5) MYTH: You have to use shaving cream on your legs.
FACT: You can use other shower items, like conditioner, as long as it’s lubricating and creates a buffer between your skin and the blade.
