Essential oils for energy and mental clarity
By Keegan Burkholder
Essential oils are a new passion of mine. I use them every single day in one way or another, whether it's in adding essential oils into my DIY cleaning product or my bath water or mixing a few drops to my moisturizer. They have really improved my overall health and wellness. I love using energizing essential oils, so I am excited to share some of the must-have essential oils that uplift!
To learn more about essential oils I had the honor of tapping Janice Rosenthal, certified Beauty Therapist, Massage Therapist and an internationally qualified Lecturer in Beauty Therapy, Massage, and Anatomy & Physiology. Janice is also the founder of Gardenofessences.com which offers essential oils for the soul! Janice shared her knowledge of three uplifting and energizing essential oils.
1. Rosemary Essential Oil
Anti-cellulite - due to Rosemary's ability to increase blood circulation and waste removal, while reducing water retention, it has been effective in creating a smoother appearance for the thighs. Rosemary oil also tones puffy, sagging skin, making it the number one product for combating cellulite.
Stimulates the nervous system, providing a coffee-like buzz. This makes Rosemary oil excellent for mental clarity, when you have to study, or complete an intense workload or workout.
Painkilling - for muscle aches / arthritis / gout / rheumatism.
Whats the most energizing essential oil? - The answer is Rosemary! If you suffer from low energy, apply Rosemary oil to your entire body, after your morning bath or shower. Create a homemade energy lotion, by following these simple instructions:
- Drop 30 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil into 4 oz of shea body butter.
- Stir thoroughly for several minutes. Its that simple!
Special - Many studies and reports have cited Rosemary oil as encouraging new hair growth, in cases of thinning hair. Apply daily to scalp, rubbing the oil well into the roots of your hair. For blending dilutions, read Janice's article - Blending and Applying Essential Oils Safely.
Precautions - Not to be used by people with high blood pressure / Not to be used during pregnancy, or when attempting to fall pregnant / Do not use if you are epileptic / Do not combine with homeopathic remedies / Do not use a few hours before sleeping, as it may prevent you from falling asleep.
Use essential oils in a diffuser as part of your aromatherapy treatments. And not just any diffuser, but a nebulizing diffuser. I enjoy the raindrop nebulizing diffuser from Organic Aromas. This type of diffuser silently nebulizes using the Bernoullis Principle. It uses no heat or water, so it maintains the holistic and therapeutic properties of the essential oils you love and this is really important.Your skin and lungs will thank you and reap the benefits. This diffuser fills the ENTIRE room (up to 800 feet) with the fragrance of your choice within minutes.
What I also love about Organic Aromas' nebulizing diffusers is that they are completely safe. Because you aren't burning the oil or adding water, you don't have to worry about starting a fire or creating an environment where mold can thrive. It's a low energy device and it also has LED lighting that cycles through a variety of soothing colors. It's specialty glass and high quality wood design is chic and sleek, so it looks beautiful with any decor. The raindrop diffuser comes with The Organic Aromas Signature Blend, which I am obsessed with. It's a blend of five unique and diverse pure essential oils that smell fantastic and uplift. *Note - nebulizing diffusers don't work well with thicker essential oils such as vetiver, frankincense, sandalwood, benzoin and patchouli, so it's best to dilute those with a carrier oil.
